W grudniu 2016 r. wartość sprzedaży w sklepach małoformatowych do 300 m2 była o 9,7% wyższa niż w listopadzie 2016 r. i o 4,2% niższa niż w grudniu 2015 r. Średnia wartość transakcji wyniosła w omawianym okresie 14,83 zł, co oznacza wzrost o 12,3% w ujęciu mdm i o 9,8% w ujęciu rdr.
Z danych CMR wynika, że w całym 2016 r. całkowita wartość sprzedaży w tym formacie sklepów wzrosła o 4,2%, m.in. dzięki wyższym wydatkom klientów na wyroby tytoniowe i alkohol (szczególnie na wódki smakowe, whisky i wino stołowe)

Sklepy małoformatowe do 300 m2 obejmują: małe sklepy spożywcze do 40 m2, średnie sklepy spożywcze 41-100 m2, duże sklepy spożywcze 101-300 m2, specjalistyczne sklepy alkoholowe.
