Wielki Dzień Pszczół 8 sierpnia powstał, aby przypominać o niezastąpionej roli, jaką zapylacze pełnią w całym środowisku oraz o tym, że są zagrożone wyginięciem. Chcemy, aby święto odbywało się co roku 8 sierpnia i na stałe wpisało się w kalendarz ekologicznych świąt Polaków.
Pierwsza edycja święta odbyła się w 2013 roku w placówkach edukacyjnych na terenie całej Polski (w szczególności na terenach wiejskich). W tyk roku będziemy świętować Wielki Dzień Pszczół już po raz trzeci w ponad 50 placówkach przyrodniczych w całej Polsce - ogrodach botanicznych, parkach narodowych i krajobrazowych. Odkryjemy przed Wami bogactwo produktów, które zawdzięczamy ciężkiej pracy pszczołowatych. Opowiemy również o niezastąpionej roli, jaką te pożyteczne owady pełnią dla człowieka oraz środowiska.
