Jeronimo Martins, właściciel sieci Biedronka, uruchamia nową usługę - telefonię komórkową przygotowaną we współpracy z PTC, operatorem sieci Era - czytamy w Rzeczpospolitej.

PTC zapewni techniczną obsługę połączeń a Biedronka sprzedawać będzie karty SIM i doładowania. Podobną usługę oferuje już sieć Carrefour. W innych krajach operatorami sieci komórkowych są też m.in. Auchan i Tesco.
Sprzedaż Biedronki wzrosła w 2008 roku o 37,2 procent. Przychody właściciela sieci - portugalskiej firmy Jeronimo Martins, wzrosły o 28,7 procent, do 6,88 mld euro. Sieć sklepów zarządzana przez firmę powiększyła się o 400 placówek, głównie w Polsce. Biedronka, odpowiadająca  za 51,1 procent wyniku portugalskiej centrali, zakończyła 2008 rok z liczbą 1359 sklepów.
