Emperia zajęła pierwsze miejsce w rankingu stu najlepszych pracodawców i zarazem największych firm Lubelszczyzny. Ranking,  przygotowany przez Kurier Lubelski, został sporządzony na podstawie informacji przekazanych przez przedsiębiorstwa.
Ranking uwzględniał m.in. nakłady inwestycyjne, przychody netto i brutto w 2008 roku, a także liczbę zatrudnionych pracowników.

"Cieszy nas bardzo pierwsza pozycja w rankingu. Fakt ten, jest dla nas potwierdzeniem słuszności naszej strategii rozwoju. Wraz ze wzrostem skali działania wzrasta też rola i wpływ naszej firmy na życie gospodarcze Lublina i całego regionu"  - mówi Artur Kawa, prezes Emperii Holding S.A.

Grupa Handlowa Emperia to ogólnopolska grupa spółek prowadzących detaliczną (Stokrotka, Groszek, Delima,  Lewiatan, Milea, Społem Tychy, Euro Sklep) oraz hurtową (Tradis, Ambra, DEF) sprzedaż artykułów spożywczych i kosmetyczno-chemicznych. Początki Emperii sięgają 1990 roku, gdy rozpoczynała swą działalność Hurtownia Artykułów Spożywczych Eldorado. Założycielami Eldorado było dwóch lubelskich inżynierów elektryków: Artur Kawa oraz Jarosław Wawerski.
