Chorwacki Sąd Konstytucyjny zniósł w piątek obowiązujący od pół roku zakaz handlu w niedziele. Zakaz ten spowodował spadek obrotów handlu o 15 procent, i tak obniżonych z powodu światowego kryzysu.
Według Sądu dotychczasowe przepisy były "pogwałceniem swobód konstytucyjnych" handlowców. Dotychczasowe prawo zakazywało pracy w niedziele w placówkach handlowych, oprócz sezonu turystycznego (czerwiec-wrzesień) i w grudniu.

Sąd Konstytucyjny już raz zniósł ten zakaz w 2003 roku, lecz rządzący konserwatyści doprowadzili do jego przywrócenia.
