Kilkanaście lat temu, pracując w handlu można było być spokojnym o przyszłość, czas wolny i zarobki. Przede wszystkim nie było konkurencji w postaci dyskontów, które w tym momencie zabierają dużą część klientów. Oobrót był na tyle duży, że bez problemu można było sobie pozwolić na zatrudnienie pracownika, starczało na opłaty, i premie. W tym momencie, do mniejszych sklepów klienci przychodzą robić drobne zakupy. Bardzo to dobrze widać na naszym przykładzie. Mamy sklep położony obok szpitala – widzimy, ze rodziny odwiedzają chorych niosąc pełne siatki zakupów zrobionych gdzieś indziej. Wcześniej przychodzili do nas. W ciągu tych lat klienci nauczyli się robić zakupy w dyskontach, nie zważając na to, że muszą wydać na paliwo, by dojechać do takiego sklepu i poświęcić wiele czasu na znalezienie wszystkich potrzebnych produktów. Owszem, do nas też zajrzą, ale porównując kwoty jakie zostawiają tam a u nas – nie możemy powiedzieć, że jesteśmy dla nich konkurencją. To przykre, ale wątpię, by wróciły lepsze czasy dla handlu tradycyjnego.
