Firma Henkel po raz pierwszy zastosowała w swoich opakowaniach tworzywa sztuczne, będące wynikiem recyklingu chemicznego – niezwykle zaawansowanej i nowoczesnej technologii odzysku. Metoda chemicznego recyklingu pozwala skutecznie przetwarzać i wykorzystywać zmieszane odpady z tworzyw sztucznych, których dotąd nie dało się poddać ponownej obróbce. Pilotażowy projekt Chemcycling dotyczy opakowań płynu Perwoll i został wdrożony we współpracy z firmami BASF i Alpla.
Firma chce, aby do 2025 roku europejskie opakowania produktów firmy zawierały 35% materiałów pochodzących z recyklingu. Już dzisiaj wiele produktów firmy sprzedawanych jest w opakowaniach wyprodukowanych w całości z tworzyw sztucznych pochodzących z recyklingu. Henkel ma na koncie także wiele innych innowacji w tym obszarze. Eksperci z Henkla opracowali na przykład pierwsze czarne opakowania widoczne dla urządzeń sortujących i dzięki temu nadające się do recyklingu.
