Spadają ceny energii, węgiel nieopłacalny

Od początku kryzysu spowodowanego epidemią koronawirusa obserwujemy zmniejszenie zużycia energii. Maleje konsumpcja prądu, a cena baryłki ropy na światowych rynkach drastycznie spada. Spadek wartości surowców energetycznych wskazuje na rynkową antycypację kolejnych kwartałów – gospodarka przygotowuje się na dużą recesję. Za gorszym rokiem dla nieodnawialnych źródeł energii stoi także rozwój polityki klimatycznej. Unia Europejska, mimo kryzysu, nie zwalnia w realizacji planów Energetyki Zielonego Ładu. Wzrost popularności inwestycji w odnawialne źródła energii widać również w Polsce. Ma to znaczący wpływ na opłacalność wydobywania węgla.
– W Polsce obserwujemy wzrost importu energii z zagranicy, która jest tańsza niż nasza krajowa – wytwarzana na węglu. Widać także bardzo mocny rozwój zielonej energii, na przykład w oparciu o instalacje prosumenckie. Coraz więcej osób korzysta z energii, którą sami wytwarzają – na przykład za pomocą paneli słonecznych – powiedział serwisowi eNewsroom Marcin Roszkowski, prezes Instytutu Jagiellońskiego. – W polskiej branży energetycznej jest również coraz więcej wielkoskalowych źródeł odnawialnych, takich jak wiatr czy fotowoltaika. Te elementy będą grały ważną rolę w ustalaniu przyszłej ceny energii. Są one bowiem konkurencyjne w porównaniu z głównym nurtem polskiej energetyki, czyli węglem kamiennym i brunatnym. Przez politykę klimatyczną oraz przez brak inwestycji – węgiel staje się mocno niekonkurencyjny – podsumowuje Roszkowski.
