Polska odzyskała status kraju wolnego od wysoce zjadliwej grypy ptaków (HPAI) – poinformował główny lekarz weterynarii Bogdan Konopka.
W sezonie 2019/2020 wystąpiło na terenie Polski 35. ognisk HPAI u drobiu. Inspekcja Weterynaryjna natychmiast wdrożyła wszystkie procedury zwalczania przewidziane w przypadku wystąpienia tej choroby.

Główny Lekarz Weterynarii przekazał raport do Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia Zwierząt (OIE) o zakończeniu czynności związanych z likwidacją choroby, dzięki czemu 13 sierpnia 2020 r. Polska odzyskała status kraju wolnego od HPAI zgodnie z rekomendacjami OIE.

Główny Lekarz Weterynarii zwrócił się do wszystkich państw, które wprowadziły restrykcje związane z wystąpieniem  w Polsce grypy ptaków o uchylenie nałożonych restrykcji.
