Nestlé od lat uczestniczy w inicjatywach przemysłu spożywczego mających na celu promowanie odpowiedzialnej komunikacji. Jedną z nich jest EU Pledge – dokument podpisany przez największe firmy spożywcze, który reguluje aktywność reklamową skierowaną do dzieci. Zgodnie z EU Pledge oraz wewnętrznymi zasadami Nestlé: firma nie kieruje żadnych aktywności marketingowych do dzieci poniżej 6. roku życia, a reklama skierowana do dzieci w wieku 6 – 12 lat jest dozwolona tylko dla produktów spełniających określone kryteria żywieniowe.
Nestlé, jako członek wspierający Związku Stowarzyszeń Rady Reklamy, w 2019 roku przyjęło Kartę Ochrony Dzieci w Reklamie, która jest załącznikiem do Kodeksu Etyki Reklamy. Nestlé deklaruje w ten sposób, że dołoży „najwyższej staranności, aby w przekazach reklamowych adresowanych do dzieci oraz w przekazach reklamowych, które nie są bezpośrednio skierowane do nich, jednak ze względu na formę, miejsce i sposób ich prezentowania dzieci są ich odbiorcami, nie pojawiały się treści mogące wpływać negatywnie na ich rozwój”. Zobowiązuje się także do ochrony wizerunku dzieci w przekazach reklamowych.
