W dniach 26 lipca-1 sierpnia 2010 r. tysiące kibiców na stadionie Estadi Olimpic de Montjuic oraz miliony widzów przed telewizorami oglądało drużynowe mistrzostwa Europy w lekkiej atletyce.

Barcelona 2010 to wydarzenie rangi światowej na które przybyło ponad 1400 lekkoatletów reprezentujących około 50 krajów. Sponsorem mistrzostw była obecna w Polsce sieć sklepów spożywczych SPAR.

Reprezentacja Polski wywalczyła w Barcelonie 9 medali: dwa złote, dwa srebrne i pięć brązowych. To najlepszy wynik od 1974 roku. Barceloński dorobek dał Polsce ósme miejsce w klasyfikacji medalowej za Rosją, Francją, Wielką Brytanią, Niemcami, Turcją, Hiszpanią i Ukrainą, a siódme w bilansie punktowym.

SPAR, jako główny sponsor mistrzostw, kolejny raz miał okazję, by utrwalić swój wizerunek jako firma wspierająca lekkoatletów i propagator aktywnego stylu życia.
