W przypadku powstania zaległości podatkowych i zmiany miejsca zamieszkania należy pamiętać, że kwoty zobowiązań należy wpłacać na konto nowego urzędu skarbowego, właściwego do adresu nowego miejsca zamieszkania. Powyższe określa art. 18a ustawy Ordynacja podatkowa (Dz. U. z 2005 roku Nr 8, poz. 60 z późniejszymi zmianami). należy również pamiętać, że wpłata podatku na niewłaściwe konto urzędu skarbowego nie zwalnia podatnika z zapłaty odsetek za zwłokę, które obecnie wynoszą 14% w stosunku rocznym. Stawka obniżona wynosi 10,5%
