Z danych zebranych przez Polski Związek Przemysłu Kosmetycznego w „Raporcie o stanie Polskiej branży kosmetycznej w Polsce 2017” wynika, że wartość polskiego rynku kosmetycznego w 2016 r. wyniosła 16 mld zł*. Oznacza to, że Polska jest szóstym rynkiem na kontynencie, ustępując tylko największym europejskim gospodarkom, m.in. Niemiec, Francji i Wielkiej Brytanii. Polski rynek osiągnął taki poziom dzięki stałemu rozwojowi w ciągu ostatnich 15 lat. Realny skumulowany wzrost rynku w tym okresie to 32%, czyli średnio 2% rocznie. Natomiast nominalny skumulowany wzrost rynku wyniósł w tym okresie aż 78% – wartość rynku w cenach bieżących od 2002 do 2016 r. urosła z 9 do 16 mld. Skok branży jest imponujący, szczególnie w porównaniu z sytuacją w innych państwach europejskich. Spośród szóstki największych europejskich rynków kosmetycznych Polska w ujęciu realnym (w cenach stałych) rosła najszybciej. To tym bardziej istotne, że inne duże rynki jak np. francuski i włoski nie tylko nie odnotowały wzrostów, ale wręcz się skurczyły (odpowiednio o 0,19% i 1,09%).
